This professional iron removes every crease and makes ironing a quick and easy chore. The quality I found the most satisfying with this iron is the compact design as it makes it very easy to fit onto my ironing board and I do not feel in danger of knocking it off. The iron allows me up to three hours of ironing time before I have to refill the 1.4 litre tank and because the tank is detachable it is very easy to refill.
Another fantastic feature on this iron is the ceramic plate on the underneath of the iron because it glides with ease across my clothes without sticking to them or gathering them up and causing creases.
The iron comes with a digital control panel and I was extremely impressed with how fast the iron heats up as it only takes 2 minutes for the iron to be ready to use. This iron has really made ironing a pleasure.
The purple colour of the iron really makes the iron look stylish and the see through water tank not only lets you see when your water is running out but it also looks very modernistic. Unfortunately the iron does not currently come in any other colours or styles but this may change on the next model.
I have been looking for months for the perfect steam generator and I decided to go for the Philips steam generator GC8261 because this model is a pressurised generator which means that you get twice as much steam. The steam is released under pressure of up to 5 bar, this enables the steam to penetrate deeper into your fabric therefore when you iron one side of your clothing it automatically gets all the creases out of the other side too. This saves you a lot of time and effort, its amazing!
I know the price of the iron may put some people off buying it, however after having used it for 6 weeks now I would definitely not go back to any other iron as this in my opinion is well worth the money. The irons instructions are not complicated to read and it is easy to set up.
This iron really does take minimum effort because the iron pretty much does all the hard work for you. It uses more steam than normal irons and that would normally mean having to refill the iron a lot however because of the irons large tank it means that there are less trips to the kitchen sink.
This iron also has a steam tip which means it is easier to iron in those hard to reach areas and it even gets right into the folds of your clothes. I was really pleased with how well it seemed to iron all the creases out of every difficult fabric, from heavy denim to delicate silks.
The iron does however make a slight whirring sound when in motion that seems to come from the base of the iron. This isn’t necessarily a huge problem but it can get a little irritating after a while. I also had difficulty storing the iron in my cupboard as the tank of the iron is roughly the size of an A4 piece of paper. I wouldn’t however change the iron for any other so these are problems that I am willing to overlook.
The iron has a cord and hose storage which for me was extremely useful as it means the iron no longer gets tangled up when it is in storage. The iron only needs to be rinsed after it has been used around 10 times and it uses tap water which makes ironing cheap and easy.
The rubber feet on the base of the iron ensures that the iron isn’t going to slip or fall off the ironing board and this gives you peace of mind if like me you have young children or pets in the house. This is a surprisingly powerful iron given that it is only small and compact and ironing is no longer a daunting task for me.
The length of the irons cord is 2.5 meters which means that the cord is able to travel further. This gives you some flexibility and it means that you don’t need to stand too close to the plug. You also have the choice as to whether you would like to use the iron as a dry iron or a steam iron and the steam controls on the iron are easy to use.
This iron very cleverly tells you when the tank needs refilling and the tank has an over heat safety stop which means that there is no risk of overheating. You can even control your steam output by using the five easy buttons on the iron for low, medium or high steam output.
This iron has knocked at least an hour off my ironing time and it really has sped up the time that it takes to iron. I feel safe using this iron because it’s many safety features which means that I do not worry as much about the iron being on while the kids are in the house. I would definitely recommend this iron to anyone because it really does make the job of ironing a lot simpler.
It is beautifully designed and it does the job that it is meant to do and I have yet to find an iron than does a better job than the Philips pressurised steam generator GC8261.
