They are of a solid construction, yet stylishly designed and the components are rigorously tested to last for 10,000 hours which equates to 2 washes a day, giving at least 20 years service.

I believe this is the main reason Miele machines are so expensive to buy, although in the long run, taking into consideration the years of excellent service you will get, it works out cheaper than buying 2 or 3 machines which is what you would most likely do over 20 years.

Most washing machines that are manufactured today are not built to last more than a few years. The manufacturers seem to build them with poorer quality materials to keep the price down in the knowledge that they know most people usually prefer the cheaper option. This is not the case with the Miele machines, they are so proud of their excellent build quality they will not cut corners or use cheap materials that don’t last, which is the reason they can safely give you peace of mind by offering a free 10 year parts and labour guarantee.

It is important to take into consideration the fact that if you’re machine was to develop a fault you would be strongly advised to use a Miele engineer or dealer for the repair, safe in the knowledge that they have the technical information and specialist software that a general washing machine engineer would not have access to; therefore they would not be able to fix the problem.

Try not to worry too much about this because in the first place you do have the 10 year guarantee and contrary to my beliefs a Miele engineer will not charge any more than any other manufacturers to repair you appliance, the only thing is because the parts are made of a much higher quality material than other manufacturers standard machines, they can be a little more expensive to buy.

I have done so much searching for the best washing machine and have read lots of reviews. I have now decided to go for the Miele W5928 which in my opinion seems to be the Rolls Royce of washing machines.

The W5928 washing machine has a unique honeycomb drum which creates a thin film of water to cushion the laundry enabling the clothes to move more freely around the drum, and even on the fastest spin there are no snags on clothing or drum imprints. The perforations on the drum wall are so tiny this prevents any small objects from getting into the drum pump.

I absolutely love everything about this washing machine, from the LCD (liquid crystal display) to the unique stains system in which you can select up to 3 stains per wash from a 22 stain program which lists everyday common stains like tea, grass, lipstick, coffee, oil, blood etc. You just select the stains from the display list on the machine put your laundry into the machine and when the cycle is finished the stain has been removed.

I recently put a pair of oil stained trousers and a blood stained shirt together in the washer and was amazed at how 2 items with completely different stains could be cleaned so well together and they really did come out spotless. With my last washing machine I had to buy special stain removers that did not work, or soak the item in cold water, whereas with this machine you can just bundle all you clothes into the washer together with the stained ones and like magic the stains just disappear. It’s amazing!

I have to say that over the years I have had many washing machines but the Miele w5928 beats them all in every aspect, another added special feature on this machine is how silent it runs. I have to go and check if I have actually turned it on from time to time as you can hardly hear it, this is because it has a silent motor instead of the usual carbon brushes.

This type of motor is generally used on professional/commercial washing machines, but not only this, it also has a the extra quiet option which allows you to reduce the noise level when you want to use your washing machine during a quiet time in the day, for example if you have a baby sleeping, I use this program often because my husband works the night shift and he needs to sleep during the day, the reason it is so quiet is because it has a special wash rhythm that activates a hold on the rinse cycle to prevent the machine from spinning until you are ready to finish the cycle.

The W5928 also has a spin speed of up to 1600rpm, which means that the washing is spun so fast it is almost dry when the cycle ends, this will therefore reduces your drying time, saving money and the environment.

The other reason I purchased the W5928 was the size of the drum, this machines holds 7kg which is perfect for me as I have a large family, and this means I can fit more laundry into the drum meaning fewer washes, using less detergent, which saves me time and money. There is also a pillow program to wash up to 2 pillows even if the filling is feather or synthetic or a small duvet and you will get excellent cleaning results.

This washing machine is so easy to use and has so many useful features and programs, Miele seem to have thought of everything when they made this appliance, I particularly like the express wash option which only takes 20 minutes and is ideal if you have laundry that is only lightly soiled or worn on once and just needs a quick freshen up.

The self cleaning dispenser drawer has a special smooth coating that prevents detergent from sticking to the sides, and although I have only had my machine a few weeks I have noticed the drawer looks as bright and clean as when I first purchased it.

The outerwear programme is good for washing waterproof coats that have a special coating to repel water has this programme protects clothing against water damage. The delay start which allows you to delay you washing for up to 24 hours so you can wash at a time that suits your needs.

Soft toy program and trainer program are another 2 programs that I have never had on any of my previous machines; this machine seems to have every wash cycle you could ever need. Including a buzzer to let you know when your wash cycle has ended.

To sum up this review, I honestly cannot find anything bad to say about this machine it is perfect in every way in my opinion, of course it was quite expensive but I have taken into consideration the amount of money I have spent on unreliable cheaper priced washing machines over the years and I think it works out far better value for money with a far better performance proving the old saying is true, you get what you pay for.
