The latest vacuum cleaner from Miele, read our review of the S7 below

Miele S7 vacuum cleaner

Welcome to our Miele S7 vacuum cleaner review. Miele have had a reputation for quality in their home appliances for many years and vacuum cleaners is one of the area they have always been strong in.

The introduction of the bagless vacuum cleaner by Dyson did dent the sales of Miele and other traditional vacuum cleaner manufacturers but they are beginning to fight back.

Miele have reduced the price of the S7 over the last couple of weeks so make sure you check out our online appliance store for all the latest prices on Miele and other vacuum cleaner brands.

Miele have just released their new upright vacuum cleaner range called the S7 and it is causing quite a stare with its ultra sleek design and innovative movement features. The one area that Miele vacuum cleaners have always been strong is in their filtering technology and the new Miele S7 vacuum cleaner continues this tradition.

Design Features

So what so special about the Miele S7 vacuum cleaner I here you say? Well for starters it’s the first Miele upright vacuum cleaner they have ever designed so it’s pretty special in that sense. Secondly it uses a very innovative rotation design in the neck of the Miele vacuum cleaner to ensure you can reach all those difficult spots.

S7 Swivel

This is achieved not only by the swivelling neck design but also by an extra set of wheels on the underside of the vacuum clean to help manoeuvrability. The other feature that makes it great is that it can lie flat on the floor to get under tables and beds. The action is very smooth and the s7 is a joy to push and move around your home and who knows you may even convince your partner to start doing a bit of cleaning around the house.

Cleaning Power

The Miele S7 is supplied with a 1800 watt motor that is powerful and variable at the same time. It uses an automatic brush height adjustment system called the electrobrush the changes the height of the brushed depending on the surface. This is a clever little invention and you no longer need to constantly change the height of your vacuum cleaner if your house contains several surfaces as most people’s do.

S7 flat

The Miele S7 vacuum cleaner comes with the usual array of accessories including a flexible suction hose for sofas and stairs and several head attachments that should allow to clean almost anywhere you need to. We will go into this in more detail later on in our Miele s7 vacuum cleaner review but first let’s look at the filtering system.

Miele Filtering System

In terms of filtering and hygiene Miele vacuum cleaners have always been well respected and the new S7 uses Miele’s air-tight sealed bag system to ensure none of the dust and particles you suck into the cleaner can escape. The HyClean filtering dustbag has an unbelievable 9 layers of material that is eletrostatically charged to ensure it retains the dust and particles.

The filter system is located on the front of the vacuum cleaner and one lift of the flap make changes the filters very easy. You can get the usual list of filters from HEPA to Dog and Cat filter. Also emission tests with the best of the filters fitted (the HEPA filter) showed that the Miele S7 scored zero loss of particles.

Reliability

As for reliability, the Miele S7 is built to the same Miele 20 year specification as most of their kitchen and home appliances. The Miele is test to destruction for many of its parts and you can see this in action at the Miele S7 home site. The S7 is a very good looking cleaner and I particularly like the LED headlight display to help you see in the dark…not much use really but look great!

The S7 does have a few problems of course and one of them is the noise. I’d love it if a vacuum cleaner manufacturer could come up with a cleaner that didn’t sound like a jumbo jet taking off but it’s not unique in that respect just not an improvement as I would of liked over other vacuum cleaner makers.

The Miele S7 Range

Miele S7 Range

The S7 vacuum cleaner has 5 models in the range to suite most needs. The cheapest of the five models is the S7210 and is cheaper mainly because of the filters and accessories supplied. It does have the same motor and six-litre capacity dustbag.

The S7260 is aimed at the animal owner and is better known as the S7 Cat and Dog. This model contains the extra feature of a mini Turbobrush to ensure you get all that stubborn pet hair off the sofa. It also has an active charcoal filter system to helps to absorb and neutralize odours from the dustbag.

The S7280 or Allervac is for the allergy suffer and is claimed by Miele to provide an effective answer to ensuring the removal of dustmite faeces and dust from carpets and furniture.

The top of the range is the S7510 and S7580 AutoCare and these models are fitted with the auto sense to detect floor surface changes as mentioned earlier in this review.

All in all this is a very impressive vacuum cleaner and especially when you consider it’s Miele’s first upright vacuum cleaner.
